The modern left has become a factory for producing little tin gods: figures whose records cannot carry the legends built around them but who are shielded by the institutions that built them. Rudyard Kipling popularized the phrase in his 1886 Departmental Ditties, mocking colonial officials who strutted like deities over petty jurisdictions. The little tin god is self-important and imperious, demands deference out of proportion to his real authority, and somehow never answers for anything, no matter how outrageous or egregious. The tin is the giveaway: polished to look like gold, hollow when you tap it.
The Democrat Party, its allied media, and the transnational class that gathers in Davos and Brussels take politicians and functionaries whose backgrounds do not support the narrative, build the narrative anyway, and defend it against every inconvenient fact. Five cases on two continents show the pattern: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Anthony Fauci, Volodymyr Zelensky, and Emmanuel Macron. Their records differ; the template does not.
