Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts on Friday allowed President Donald Trump to temporarily resume construction of the White House ballroom, the Associated Press reported.Roberts’s order follows the administration filing an emergency appeal from the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, after it found Trump lacked authorization from Congress to move forward with the project.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation brought the suit, which has seen the administration battle stays on construction at every court level until Friday’s decision.
The White House ballroom is a passion project for Trump, and one of his main undertakings to “beautify” the nation’s capital. He has also renovated the Reflecting Pool, cleaned the equestrian statues on Arlington Bridge, fixed numerous fountains in the city, and begun an overall of Union Station.
