A major European study tracked over 450,000 people for 14 years, finding that each extra 30 grams of processed meat per day raises stomach cancer risk by 9% and esophageal adenocarcinoma risk by 13%.
An extra 20 grams of white meat was linked to a 12% higher risk of cancer in the main body of the stomach, with notable gender differences in risk patterns.
Processed meat showed a clear, statistically significant link to stomach cancer for men, while women faced increased risk from both processed and white meat.
The findings align with WHO classifications of processed meat as a known human carcinogen, strengthening the previously uncertain link to stomach cancer.
The study emphasizes the importance of informed dietary choices and transparency from institutions, noting limitations like self-reported diet and potential interactions with stomach infections.

A groundbreaking new study has revealed that consuming just one additional serving of processed meat per day, equivalent to a single slice of ham, can significantly increase your risk of developing stomach cancer.
