Ultra-Processed Foods and Muscle Health
A study from researchers at the University of California, San Francisco has found an association between higher consumption of ultra-processed foods and lower muscle quality in middle-aged and older adults. The research, which analyzed data from 615 participants with an average age of 60, showed that those who ate more ultra-processed foods had greater amounts of intramuscular fat in their thigh muscles, as measured by MRI scans.
