A study of 4,656 adults aged 60 and older in Colombia found that low grip strength, not obesity, was associated with higher odds of cognitive impairment and probable dementia, according to research published in Frontiers in Nutrition.
The study divided participants into four groups based on obesity status and grip strength measurements, officials said. Low grip strength was defined as less than 27 kilograms for men and less than 16 kilograms for women.
