The Senate passed legislation to avert a government shutdown on Saturday.Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and the Senate Democratic leadership allowed the bill to move forward.
The bill keeps the government funded through December 11.
The Senate has adjourned and will return in September.
