Senate Democrats blocked a bipartisan bill meant to keep data center power costs off household electric bills, denying Republicans a clear midterm win on energy prices.
The Senate on Wednesday fell three votes short of advancing the Ratepayer Protection Act, a measure sponsored by Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) that aimed to shield ordinary households from rising electricity costs linked to power-hungry data centers.
