The 41-year-old ex-girlfriend, Lyndsey Fifield, went on the record with the Washington Post, describing a pattern of deception during their relationship. Platner’s campaign called her claims “categorically false and politically motivated.” But the new accusation compounds a crisis that has left the oyster farmer’s candidacy hanging by a thread, with a hard ballot deadline of 5 p.m. on July 13 for Democrats to replace him.
