Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday took a victory lap after his party won control of both chambers of Congress in the Tuesday evening midterms.’We never wavered,” he said in a press conference. “Our coalition moved as one body, House and Senate, to define the issues that Americans cared most about.”
“And of course, number one, cost. The high cost of living. How difficult it was to raise a family,” he went on. “The American people knew we were on their side.”
Schumer’s remarks appear to reflect Vice President JD Vance’s own assessment of why his party lost, which he blamed on the Iran war, saying that voters prioritized cost-of-living issues.
