Rep. Russell Fry, R-S.C., on Monday announced that he would seek the Republican nomination for Senate to replace the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.Graham died unexpectedly earlier this month after already winning the GOP nomination. Gov. Henry McMaster, R-S.C., appointed his sister, Darline Graham Nordone, to serve the remainder of his term. Though she has not formally announced a bid of her own, President Donald Trump has supported her doing so.
Fry, for his part, announced his plans in an X post, saying “South Carolina, I’m in! I’m running for the U.S. Senate.”
“Too many South Carolina families are struggling to make ends meet. High gas prices and soaring grocery costs are hurting hardworking people,” he added. “We need a conservative fighter in the Senate who delivers real results. I will be your conservative MAGA candidate in the special primary Senate election this summer.”
Fry joins Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., and Mark Lynch in the primary field.
