    Russia And North Korea Open First Road Bridge Across Tumen River — A New Land Corridor Takes Shape

    Russia and North Korea on Monday opened the first road bridge crossing the border between the two countries. The 1-kilometer, two-lane bridge spans the Tumen River, connecting the North Korean special economic zone of Rason with the Russian town of Khasan. The Russian government said the crossing can handle up to 300 vehicles per day. The structure was named the Yakov Novichenko Bridge, after a Soviet officer credited with saving North Korea’s founding leader Kim Il-sung during World War II.
