A majority of self-identified MAGA voters want the conflict with Iran to end, but nearly half of them aren’t sure the deal President Trump struck actually favors the United States. That tension, laid bare in a CBS News/YouGov poll conducted June 17, 19, has opened a rare public rift among Republican senators and forced the White House to defend a 14-point memorandum of understanding that even Trump allies are calling a bad bargain.
The numbers tell a complicated story. Fifty-six percent of MAGA voters said the U.S. should end the conflict with Iran now. But 44 percent, a strikingly large minority, said the war should continue until “Iran gives up more.” Among all self-identified Republicans, the split was 60, 40 in favor of ending hostilities.
