After 77 days away from Congress and 100 consecutive missed votes, New Jersey Republican Rep. Tom Kean Jr. broke his silence, and offered little more than vague assurances about a “personal medical issue” and a promise to return “in the next couple of weeks.”
Kean, 57, spoke to the New Jersey Globe in what the New York Post described as his first known interview during the entire stretch of his absence from Washington. His district, widely considered the most competitive congressional seat in New Jersey and one of the most vulnerable GOP-held seats in the country, faces a primary on June 2, less than two weeks away.
