The United States Supreme Court ruled today, April 29, in Louisiana v. Callais that Louisiana was discriminatory when it created a second majority black district.
The 6-3 ruling determined that Louisiana gave too much consideration to race when it last redrew its Congressional Districts map. Chief Justice John Roberts took issue with a Democrat district in Louisiana that is more than 200 miles in length and was drawn like a “snake.”
