    Prominent NJ Dem who co-sponsored state DMV voter registration program says he supports SAVE Act

    Democratic New Jersey Assemblyman Jamel Holley called for Congress to pass the election integrity measure, the SAVE Act. Responding to recent reports that the New Jersey motor vehicle system accidentally registered over 6,000 non-citizens to vote, with approximately 400 casting ballots in elections, Holley said that the state needs better election security measures. 
    “I hate to deliver more bad news, but the problem extends well beyond those 6,000 cases. It’s more! This is precisely why we must pass the SAVE Act,” Holley said on X. 
    Holley stated that he originally co-sponsored the legislation that created the voter registration program in the state motor vehicle system, but in light of the recent problems, he called on an “immediate pause” in the program “until stronger safeguards are put in place only at the DMV.”
