Doctors determined there are no medical reasons to prevent Pope Leo XIV from making his trip to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru, the Vatican confirmed on Monday. The pope’s recovery continues going well, and he has received favorable assessments from his medical team, the Vatican press office said.
The trip to Latin America, scheduled for Nov. 6–17, won’t have any changes, the Associated Press reported.
Leo, 71, had part of one lung removed on Oct. 13, and the surgery determined that he had adenocarinoma, the most common type of lung cancer. Since returning to the Vatican, Leo has gradually resumed his duties while altering his schedule to accommodate his recovery.
