The FBI arrested a man who is suspected of sending hundreds of letters containing a suspicious white powder to public officials across the country during the 2024 and 2026 election cycles. The Oklahoma City resident is expected to have his initial court appearance on Tuesday afternoon, Fox News Digital reported.
More than 100 of the letters were sent to multiple secretary of state and election offices, among others.
The arrest follows similar cases around the country. Last month, senior Capitol Hill staff were warned in an email on Thursday that “letters containing suspicious substances” were mailed out to multiple congressional offices, as well as Secretary of State and their related election offices across the country.
Last week, an Illinois man was charged with two felonies on Monday for allegedly mailing letters containing a white powdery substance to members of Congress in the Chicago area, according to a criminal complaint.
