Tennessee GOP Rep. Andy Ogles filed articles of impeachment against a federal judge Monday after the judge temporarily blocked President Donald Trump from ending Temporary Protected Status for Somalis.U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs’, who was appointed by former President Barack Obama, issued a stay last week, blocking the Trump administration from ending the status for Somalis, noting the move was made based on racially discriminatory grounds.
The resolution accused Burroughs of having “defied the authority of both Federal law and the Supreme Court,” which she claimed amounted to her committing “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
“I have just introduced articles of impeachment against radical judicial activist Judge Allison Burroughs for ignoring the Supreme Court and attempting to force mass migration from Somalia into American communities,” Ogles posted on X.

“America is not Africa’s dumping ground. We will end Temporary Protected Status, remove those who have no lawful right to remain, and put the sovereignty of the American people first,” he added.
Temporary Protected Status is given to people from countries that are unsafe because of a natural disaster, political instability or other dangerous conditions. The protections are granted for six, 12 or 18 months and allow the recipient to work in the United States and prevents them from being deported.
