Former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem joined the advisory board of a Canadian mineral firm. The former Cabinet member confirmed that she had joined the advisory board for NovaRed, a critical minerals firm based in British Columbia.
“I look forward to supporting the Company’s strategic objectives. In an increasingly competitive global environment, secure and reliable access to critical minerals has become an important economic and national security priority,” she said, according to The Hill.
Noem was fired in March and replaced with then-Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla. Her ouster followed a series of controversies surrounding immigration enforcement, her approval of federal contracts, and a PR campaign that heavily featured herself. Noem was then appointed special envoy for the shield of the Americas.
Mullin has since confirmed that he was reviewing several federal contracts approved during her tenure. After Noem departed her DHS role, a separate scandal involving her husband’s unconventional erotic proclivities added to the controversy around her.
