The report, authored by Alexandra B. Engler on April 30, 2026, highlights CorAeon, a functional medicine clinic based in the United States. The clinic was founded by cardiologist Giovanni Campanile and psychiatrist Sandra Cammarata. The core premise, per the report, is that heart and mind are not separate but deeply interconnected through shared biological pathways. This integrated model departs from conventional medical practice where these systems are typically managed in separate specialty settings.
    Biological Links Between Heart and Mind

    Research increasingly demonstrates that mental and cardiovascular functions change concurrently, according to a 2025 study in Trends in Neuroscience cited in the MindBodyGreen report. The report states that the connection arises from tight integration of the central nervous system and autonomic nervous system, with the endocrine and cardiovascular systems also involved. A 2025 statement from the American College of Cardiology, as noted in the report, emphasized the need for anti-inflammatory therapies for primary cardiovascular prevention, linking chronic inflammation to both heart disease and depression.
