Nearly 1,000 people were arrested Saturday as massive demonstrations erupted into violence across France, presenting another challenge to President Emmanuel Macron during his final months in office.
France’s Interior Ministry reported approximately 410,000 demonstrators nationwide, including 110,000 in Paris. The CGT labor union disputed those figures, estimating nearly 800,000 protesters across the country.
