The deadline to pay an alleged ransom for Nancy Guthrie passed Monday night without the proof of life that daughter and “TODAY” show co-host Savannah Guthrie and her siblings called for on social media. The alleged kidnappers demanded a $6 million ransom for Nancy Guthrie’s return by 5 p.m. Monday local time in alleged ransom notes that were distributed to local media outlets in Tucson, Arizona. Nancy Guthrie has now been missing for nine days.
The deadline comes after Savannah Guthrie posted another plea on social media for the kidnappers to release her mother, stating that she and her family were at “an hour of desperation.”
“We believe our mom is still out there,” she said. “We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock, trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken, and we don’t know where. And we need your help.”
Savannah Guthrie also urged the public who are far away from Tucson to report any information or leads that they have to law enforcement.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed in a post on X Monday that they still have not identified any suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles in the case.
“We understand the significant public interest in this case; however, investigators need time and space to do their work,” the department said in a news release, per CNN. “If and when relevant information becomes available, it will be shared.”
