    Meta-Analysis Finds Circuit Training May Lower Blood Pressure Most

    A new meta-analysis published in the journal Sports Medicine examined 159 studies involving nearly 11,000 adults with an average age of 45 or older and found that circuit-based training – alternating cardiovascular and resistance work with short rest periods – was associated with the largest reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, according to the study.

    Combined aerobic-resistance training ranked a close second in the analysis, the findings stated. The review compared multiple exercise modalities, including aerobic training, resistance training, combined training, circuit training, isometric exercise, and high-intensity interval training, researchers said.
