New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani said he is researching whether his administration could arrest Benjamin Netanyahu when he visits New York City for the United Nations General Assembly in September.“I believe that prime minister Netanyahu belongs in The Hague,” Mamdani said on The New York Times’ the Interview podcast.
“He’s a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court, and what you will find is that is an opinion that is held by many, purely because of what his actions have wrought over these past many years,” he added.
The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in November 2024, alleging that he committed war crimes in Gaza.
