Louisiana police take man into custody in connection with deadly stabbings

A Louisiana sheriff’s department arrested a man over the weekend who is believed to be connected to the deadly stabbing in Houma last week.Four people were killed in the stabbing spree on Friday and a manhunt was launched over the weekend for 47-year-old Kaegan Jude Solet. He was also a suspect in at least two other stabbings, one of which was fatal, in 2019, according to NBC News.
Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office were initially called to the area of Ashland Drive, where they found a wounded juvenile. The child was taken to a hospital with what authorities described as severe injuries and remains in critical condition, according to reports.
As investigators kept searching the surrounding area, they discovered four people dead inside nearby homes. 
Officials have not yet released the victims’ identities or said whether the victims knew each other, but they did claim the stabbings were not a “random act of violence,” and that there “is a link” between Solet and the victims but did not disclose it.
Solet has previously faced serious allegations involving knife attacks in Terrebonne Parish. In 2019, he was arrested in connection with the stabbing of a woman at a Houma motel. He was later acquitted of the attempted murder charge, according to reports.
Earlier that same year, Solet was also accused of the fatal stabbing of a homeless man in Houma. A grand jury ultimately declined to indict him, citing insufficient evidence at the time.
It is not clear whether formal charges have been filed against Solet so far.
