Leavitt on Senate GOP: Trump’s patience ‘running out’

President Donald Trump’s patience with Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senate Republicans is apparently “running out” as the chamber consistently fails to advance his legislative priorities.Speaking to reporters on Thursday about Thune and the SAVE America Act, Leavitt said that “[l]ook, the president spoke about this directly yesterday … His patience is running out.”
Thune, for his part, retorted that Leavitt should “get on the phone and get the votes, right?”
The Senate leader has repeatedly insisted that his conference lacks the votes to advance the SAVE America Act or to reform the filibuster to do so with a lower voting margin.
Earlier in the day, Thune again cast doubt on the Senate’s ability to approve key legislative priorities, suggesting that the chamber would not approve a major reconciliation package the House approved that included key election integrity provisions.
