Jury deadlocked in Harvey Weinstein’s latest sex crimes trial

The judge presiding over the third Manhattan sex crimes trial against former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein announced on Friday the jury is deadlocked. In a note to Judge Curtis Farber the jury said it “concluded we cannot reach a unanimous decision,” NBC News reported. 
Farber ordered the jurors to continue deliberating, and if they can’t reach a unanimous verdict, then the court will need to schedule a new trial with a new jury. 
Weinstein is charged with third-degree rape. Jessica Mann, an aspiring actor, alleges that Weinstein assaulted her at a hotel in Manhattan in 2013. Weinstein pleaded not guilty to the charge, denying allegations that the sex wasn’t consensual. 
The trial is the third time Weinstein faces charges stemming from Mann’s allegations. He was first convicted of third-degree rape in 2024, but a New York state appeals court overturned the conviction. He was tried again last year, but the jury in that trial also failed to reach a verdict on the charge tied to Mann’s allegations.
