MANHATTAN (CN) — A federal judge on Monday declined to release Rafael Rubio, a Venezuelan data analyst for the New York City Council, from immigration detention as he awaits possible deportation.
In a 22-page ruling, U.S. District Judge John Cronan found that the government lawfully revoked Rubio’s temporary protected status — despite another federal judge ruling last year that such revocations were illegal — and rejected his habeas corpus petition.
