Johnson says he is convinced Republicans will grow House majority in November midterms

House Speaker Mike Johnson declared Monday that he believes Republicans will grow their majority in Congress in November amid an increase in far-left democratic socialist candidates nationwide.The Republican leader described November’s midterms as a choice between “common sense and crazy,” and claimed voters do not want to go down the “dark, dangerous, deadly road to communism,” according to the Washington Times.
“In the next Congress, we will not be arguing over marginal tax rates or regulation,” Johnson told Virginia voters while campaigning for GOP Rep. Jen Kiggans. “We’ll be arguing over whether or not we’re going to maintain our republic in our 251st year as a nation … I’m absolutely convinced that we’re going to grow the House majority.”
Johnson, who is on a “30-day nonstop tour,” touted Kiggans as one of the “most effective members of Congress,” as Republicans hope to keep the seat amid a tight reelection race.
“She’s among the most bipartisan members, one of the members that can walk into the middle of chaotic situations and get things done,” he said.
Johnson is currently scheduled to campaign in 34 House districts this summer across 18 states as Republicans seek to maintain and increase their majority in both chambers of Congress this fall.
