U.S. job growth in May doubled expectations and the gains in March and April were higher than initially reported, the U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported Friday.
Total nonfarm employment increased a seasonally-adjusted 172,000, twice the 80,000 growth analysts had predicted. Meanwhile, job growth in March was revised up 29,000 to 214,000 and April’s increase was revised up 64,000 to 179,000, resulting in combine job growth 93,000 higher than previously reported, the new BLS report reveals.
