Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird has filed a lawsuit against home security camera maker Lorex, alleging the company used deceptive business practices to mislead consumers about potential security risks tied to its products.

The complaint, announced by Bird’s office on Oct. 9, alleges that Lorex “hid material facts” from consumers and that information collected by its products “is susceptible to being accessed by China and the Chinese Communist Party.”Iowa is not the first state to take legal action against Lorex. Nebraska, Texas, and Missouri have also filed similar lawsuits against the company.

A day earlier, Bird announced a lawsuit against TP-Link Systems, alleging the router maker concealed ongoing ties to China and misled consumers about the security of its products. We had a problem loading this article.
