In a now-viral clip first shared here, Friday’s CBS Mornings featured a jaw-dropping revelation from woke Karen and Lindsay Clancy juror Paula Devlin that not only was the lone juror holding out for hopes of a guilty verdict a man, but he was both a black man and the only non-white person on the entire 12-person jury.
Co-host Gayle King – who’s repeatedly expressed sympathy and understanding for Clancy and her claims postpartum psychosis caused her to brutally kill her three small children – had first asked Devlin about what the initial breakdown was when the trial went to deliberations. Devlin had said it started out as eight for not guilty, two for guilty, and two undecided.
It was then that King opened a can of worms she was unprepared for: “I am curious about the jurors themselves, because we know it was nine women, three men. What was the age range? What was the racial make-up? I haven’t heard any of that. What was it?”
Devlin’s age answer wasn’t controversial (“70ish to 22”) as well as the fact that “a lot of the jurors had children, but her revelation that there was “[o]ne person of color and then everybody else was white” that initially stunned King into asking follow-ups.
“One person of color? Was the person of color a woman or a man,” she wondered.
When Devlin confirmed the “person of color” was male, King continued to pull on the string to the ultimate question: “A man? Is the holdout juror a person of – a black man?”
Devlin simply replied, “yes.”
