ICE officer shoots man during encounter in North Austin

A man was injured Sunday after a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer opened fire during an encounter in North Austin, according to local authorities and initial reports.The shooting happened in the area of Anderson Lane and Research Boulevard, which prompted a significant law enforcement response. 
The injured man was taken for medical treatment.
Authorities have not released further details about his condition.
The circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation. Officials are expected to examine what happened immediately before the ICE officer fired, including available video and other evidence.
U.S. Rep. Greg Casar called for an independent investigation and the immediate release of body-camera footage, saying authorities should establish the facts surrounding the shooting.
