The House voted 215-208 on Wednesday to pass legislation that would force the removal of U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities against Iran unless Congress explicitly authorizes military action, a direct challenge to President Donald Trump’s authority as commander in chief, carried across the finish line by four Republican defectors and nearly every Democrat in the chamber.
Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, Tom Barrett of Michigan, and Warren Davidson of Ohio joined Democrats in backing the resolution. Rep. Jared Golden of Maine, the lone Democrat who had voted against all three prior versions of the measure, reversed course and supported it this time.
