The House of Representatives is poised to vote on the Russia sanctions bill the Senate approved in the wake of the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.The House Rules Committee will meet to consider the measure on Monday, Politico reported. The upper chamber passed the package shortly after Graham’s unexpected death, but Democrats in the lower chamber have feared the legislation will give President Donald Trump excessive tariff power.
The U.S. has already imposed sweeping sanctions on Russia since the beginning of the Ukraine war. The late Graham, however, had pushed for a significant escalation of those measures.
It remains unclear whether the bill has enough support to clear the lower chamber.
