The House on Wednesday approved legislation to extend a key foreign intelligence surveillance authority, despite internal divisions and privacy concerns to pass the measure with bipartisan support.
Lawmakers voted 235 to 191 to renew Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, a tool used by U.S. intelligence agencies to monitor foreign targets located outside the country. The program is set to expire at the end of April, placing pressure on Congress to act quickly.
