The U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation Tuesday that would end the twice-a-year ritual of changing clocks by locking the country into daylight saving time permanently.
The Sunshine Protection Act of 2025 cleared the House by a vote of 308-117. Opposition came from both sides of the aisle, with 22 Republicans and 95 Democrats voting no. The bill now heads to the Senate, where it is expected to face resistance from members of both parties over concerns about school start times, sunrise schedules and effects on circadian rhythms.
