The chairman of the House Administration Committee, which oversees federal elections, has asked for classified briefings from the Trump administration on the scope of the Chinese hacks and noncitizens registered to vote, both announced by the president earlier this month in a primetime address. Chairman Bryan Steil made the requests in letters sent Thursday to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, FBI Director Kash Patel, and acting Director of National Intelligence William Pulte.
“To inform potential legislative reforms, the Committee therefore requests a Member-level, classified briefing from DHS on the number of non-citizens registered to vote across the country and cyber vulnerabilities present in current voting systems,” Steil wrote in the letters, obtained by Just the News.
Steil wants the briefing for his committee to take place in September.

The congressman specifically raised two of the major revelations in President Donald Trump’s July 16 speech, the results of a Homeland Security probe that found more than 250,000 noncitizens were registered to vote in four states and intrusions by Chinese hackers into U.S. voter registration systems.
According to the documents declassified and released by the president, the Homeland Security Department found more than a quarter million illegal aliens were registered to vote in four states – California, Nevada, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Since the speech, New Jersey Democrat Gov. Mikie Sherill announced that 6,600 noncitizens were discovered on the state’s voter rolls.
Steil also previously told Just the News that Congress had not been briefed on the full extent of Chinese efforts to scoop up millions of American voter files since 2020. On Thursday, the White House released a statement from its spy agency chiefs clarifying that China’s targeting of Americans’ voter registration files election likely meets the intelligence community’s definition for “election interference.”
