Hegseth warns US will be ‘busy tonight’ hitting Iran hard in retaliation for downed helicopter

War Secretary Pete Hegseth said Wednesday that the United States military will be “busy tonight” hitting Iran with missiles amid renewed tensions over the downing of a U.S. helicopter earlier this week.The U.S. launched strikes on Iran on Tuesday evening in response to the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter on Monday. The conflict in the Middle East has been in a state of nominal ceasefire for weeks. 
“Central Command will be busy tonight,” Hegseth told reporters, according to USA Today. “President Donald Trump said we will be hitting Iran hard and we will be.”
The secretary noted that the U.S. will be hitting “key facilities in Iran,” which he said are necessary to “get the kind of deal Trump expects.”
The notice comes after Trump also warned Iran that the U.S. was not done with its retaliation, indicating that Iran has taken too long in agreeing to his proposed peace deal.
“We hit them hard yesterday and we’re going to hit them again hard today,” he said. “We were really close to a deal — but they keep tapping us along. They keep playing us for suckers because you know what? They dealt with some very stupid presidents.”
