Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth blocked four Army officers from promotion to brigadier general, the latest in a growing pattern of personnel moves that have left the service without a Senate-confirmed chief of staff for months.
A U.S. official told The Hill on Friday that some of the blocked officers have links to Gen. Randy George, the former Army chief of staff whom Hegseth removed in early April, and Gen. Chris Donahue, the former commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa whom Hegseth ousted in June. The four officers had been selected for one-star rank but will not advance.
