Former Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday endorsed Rep. James Talarico, D-Texas, for Senate after he defeated her original pick, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, in the Tuesday evening primary.Talarico soundly defeated Crockett in the Texas primary, ending a bitterly contested race and setting him up to face either Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, or Attorney General Ken Paxton, both of whom proceeded to a runoff election.
“I congratulate James Talarico for his win, and the inspiring campaign he continues to build. I appreciate that he is making the case for the kind of civic renewal our country needs,” Harris said, according to The Hill. “I offer him my full support in the months ahead.”
Crockett conceded on Wednesday morning after previously suggesting she would pursue a legal challenge to the primary.
“Texas is primed to turn blue and we must remain united because this is bigger than any one person,” Crockett said. “This is about the future of all 30 million Texans and getting America back on track.”
