Arizona GOP Rep. Abraham Hamadeh offered a monetary reward Tuesday for information that leads to the arrest of two suspects in an alleged sexual assault case. The congressman said he is “personally” offering the $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and convictions of the two individuals suspected in the alleged sexual assault of his Democratic challenger Bernadette Greene-Placentia in August.
Greene-Placentia said the incident occurred Aug. 14 in Sun City, a Phoenix suburb, when she was fixing the sign in the predawn hours. She was knocked unconscious by two men, then sexually assaulted, according to a report to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office obtained by local media.
Hamadeh, who is running for reelection against Greene-Placentia, highlighted the importance of supporting victims and holding their perpetrators accountable.
“Nothing is more important to me than the safety and security of my constituents,” the lawmaker said in a statement. “As a former prosecutor who has fought for survivors of sexual assault, I am offering a reward for information leading to the capture and arrest of the two individuals responsible for this crime.
“Sexual assault is a serious violent offense. Survivors deserve justice,” he continued. “Those who commit these acts must be held accountable.”
