    Grassley backs transparency reforms in foreign surveillance act

    Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, announced on Tuesday he’s backing transparency reforms to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. The Department of Justice revised congressional attendance procedures for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) and Foreign Surveillance Court of Review (FISCR) proceedings. Grassley, who is the Judiciary Committee Chairman, stated that the DOJ’s revisions address his concerns. 
    “I applaud DOJ for lifting its restrictions on congressional oversight of FISC and FISCR proceedings. With Congress’s access fully restored, the Trump administration has faithfully implemented the reforms Congress called for in its last FISA reauthorization and proven its commitment to transparency and the protection of civil liberties,” Grassley said in a statement.
