Germany’s state media regulators are developing legislation that would require social media platforms to algorithmically amplify content from government-approved news outlets, according to a leaked document obtained by Apollo News and reported by Reclaim The Net. [7] The proposal would establish a state authority to certify which media organizations are considered “reliable,” and platforms such as X, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok would be legally obligated to give that content preferential visibility in users’ feeds.
