Georgia GOP Rep. Mike Collins advanced to a runoff election Tuesday night in his quest for the party’s nomination for Senate and will be joined by fellow GOP Rep. Buddy Carter or football coach Derek Dooley. The two candidates will face off in a runoff on June 16, and the winner will go on to face Democratic Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff in November.
Collins advanced with 41.6% of the vote as of 9:51 p.m. Eastern, with Dooley trailing with 28.6% compared to Carter’s 25.7%. The results for the latter two candidates were too close to call at press time, according to the Associated Press.
The results come on one of the busiest primary nights of the 2026 season, with six states holding their respective primaries. The other states are Alabama, Idaho, Kentucky, Oregon and Pennsylvania.
