Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters on Wednesday opened the party’s first-ever midterm convention in Dallas, Texas, with a bold message for the nation’s future and stern portrayal of the election stakes.”The contrast couldn’t be clearer. Republicans are delivering freedom, opportunity, security, and common sense,” he said during his opening remarks. “Democrats are being overtaken by radical socialists driving their party further from the values that make America great.”
Gruters was the first speaker at the midterm convention, which is set to feature major Republican lawmakers. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance are both set to speak.
The convention marks an effort by Republicans to bolster voter enthusiasm ahead of the November elections. The incumbent party typically loses seats in the midterms, but the GOP hopes to buck the historical trend this cycle.
