Amber Guyger, the former Dallas police officer who was convicted of fatally shooting her neighbor in his apartment in 2018, has been released from prison after serving seven years. Guyger shot and killed Botham Jean inside his own apartment after mistaking it as her own. She claimed she had parked on the wrong floor of the parking garage and entered Jean’s apartment instead of her own, CBS News reported.
Thinking Jean was an intruder, she shot him. She was convicted of murder in October 2019, and a jury sentenced her to 10 years in prison. She was paroled this month.
Guyger’s attorney, Robert Rodgers, told CBS News earlier this month that Guyger still feels regret over the shooting. She has a place to live and a job lined up, he said.
