Norway is a country of admirable people and beautiful landscapes, but it’s also a country whose political and cultural elite feels constantly obliged to signal its love of Islam. You may reply that that’s par for the course in Western Europe, and it is; but the Norwegian elite goes the extra mile, compelled by its notion of Norway as the world’s “peace country” – and by its own perverse notion of what that means – to cuddle up even to the worst Muslim malefactors. They’re like the teacher who, when the class bully beats up an innocent classmate, takes the bully aside to show him special affection. It’s a sickness that I’ve been chronicling for a couple of decades now.
