    Democrats handed Republicans a gift in Florida’s Senate primary by nominating democratic socialist Angie Nixon over better-funded moderate Alex Vindman, and election forecasters moved the race out of reach within hours.

    Sabato’s Crystal Ball, the University of Virginia’s widely watched election handicapper, shifted its rating for the Florida Senate contest from “likely Republican” to “safely Republican” on Tuesday, immediately after Nixon claimed the Democratic nomination. Kyle Kondik, the outlet’s managing editor, posted his assessment on X the same day:
