Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar, a Cuban-American Republican from Miami, released a campaign ad telling President Trump his immigration enforcement has “gone too far”, a rare public rebuke from a GOP incumbent who received Trump’s endorsement just weeks earlier.
Salazar, who has represented her heavily Hispanic South Florida district since 2021, addressed the president directly in the video spot. She warned that the same Hispanic voters who helped carry Trump to the White House in 2024 now “feel betrayed” by the administration’s approach to immigration enforcement. The ad landed weeks before the 2026 midterm elections, in a district where nearly three-quarters of residents are Hispanic, CBS News reported.
